A Product or Service Area is a keyword that you believe customers will use when searching for your business’ products and services online. A Product or Service Area can be general or specific, but it must relate to the products or service areas of your business. There is no limit to the number of Product and Service keywords you can have, but we do vet them to ensure they are relevant. It is in your company's interest to use appropriate and pertinent keywords. The more relevant the keyword, the more likely your listing is to receive positive hits, which will potentially generate business for you.

For example, an hair cream manufacturing company based in Italy cannot use the keyword 'Italy' for two reasons:

  • ‘Italy’ is not a product or service offered by the hair cream manufacturing company
  • People conducting online searches using the keyword ‘Italy’ will not be looking for hair cream company

Similarly, a business supplying salons equipment cannot use the keyword 'sales' as:

  • The word ‘sales’ does not indicate anything specific to the company’s product and service offering
  • People conducting online searches using the keyword ‘sales’ alone are not likely to be looking for an audio equipment supplier
A good alternative to the keyword ‘sales’ would be ‘salons supplies’ or ‘hair scissors’ as these are more representative of the products the business offers.
